✏️ 10 learnings from my Twitter journey
How to treat the "rollercoaster" social media platform under Elon Musk's ownership.
I've always had a hard time with Twitter – too much content to keep up with. 😀
Anyway, my follower count is approaching 2K, and I would like to reflect on the observations I managed to collect from using the platform.
This edition will focus on how to write engaging (successful) posts on Twitter and best practices from other creators.
Two main subtopics are awaiting you:

🤓 10 learnings for creating better content
These 10 points capture my insights about writing posts and are based on my observations.
Let’s break it down into 10 brief bullet points. 👇
1️⃣ Stick to short lines in paragraphs
The best digestible are at a maximum of 2 lines per paragraph. Then use an empty paragraph and continue with another 2 lines per paragraph.
Feel free to use bullet points (ordered list: 1. 2. 3.; unordered list: "•" or use emojis instead of the bullet).
2️⃣ The long-form is good, BUT
Force it into the Thread. The text seems to be shorter to read than. Also, when people tap on such a post to expand it, it counts as another action that boosts the algorithm's reach.
If your first tweet (or post) sparks curiosity, then breaking the rest into a well-structured thread keeps people scrolling – and each scroll = engagement.
3️⃣ The first post should serve as a hook to roll out other threads
That’s why you should not end the thought, but give people reason to continue reading.

4️⃣ Share learnings
People like success stories with happy endings and great results. When you speak from your own experience, the better. Another option is to take a well-known (recognisable) person who serves as a role model.
5️⃣ Post needs to bring value
At the end of the post reader needs to have a feeling of fulfilment. He needs to feel like he wants to come back to the post later. (To bookmark it.)

6️⃣ Add visual content
Plain text can be a bit boring, but when you add something graphic (image, video), people are more attracted to your posts.
Remember: People do not read, they scan, and human beings digest visual content faster than written.

7️⃣ Add links to comments
Social media in general doesn’t like it when you want to redirect users and their attention to a 3rd platform. That’s why main posts with links are “penalised”. Rather, place your links in the comments and mention in the post that the link or continuation is there.
8️⃣ Add CTA or invite them
If you have any other purpose than giving value, e.g. ask people for feedback or register somewhere, ask them to do it. Ideally, at the end.
9️⃣ Create a storyline… People love stories… Narrate one…
In each thread, reveal interesting information in a short line or two. Complement the information with the visual. Don't hesitate to base the story about a popular person or company while tagging them.
🔟 Do not fear to break the rules
You can learn something only when you experiment. That requires a lot of courage and a curious mind. So let’s explore and try new things, no matter what results you will receive.

Do you think Twitter is still worth it, Nika?
Hi Nika. Have you tried participating in Twitter chats? That’s a great way to build your network, and engagement around your tweets. There definitely aren’t as many as there used to be, but still a few good ones around. I will tweet you a few on Twitter :)
